I cast off.

I was reading Mason-Dixon earlier this week. Kay has been talking about art and paintings.
But here I am. A knitter in love with paintings. I can't think of anything else to do but knit them.
You see, that's the whole point isn't it. This is knitting, you can knit anything you want to, and the reason I love the folks at Mason-Dixon is because they talk about their inspirations and there are no knitting police who tell you that you're holding your pins wrong and your stitches are wobbly (Ahem, sorry, I appear to have gone off the point).
So, to the art. I'm not really one for art galleries, but I do love a good album sleeve - I am old enough to remember vinyl records, so artwork was LARGE. This is my idea of a good album sleeve.

It's simple it's effective, it's Barney Bubbles. I love Barney Bubbles album covers.
So after the big decider. What to knit? What to knit? I went for (don't hold your breath) a sock!

A world without socks does not rock.
And also this

Well, that's not actually what I'm knitting, that's the pile of stuff to be used up. The pattern takes so long and sucks up so much wool that you would be hard pressed to see any progress so I'm keeping count of what's left to knit instead.
My latest queue of knitting things:

That jumper!

Yarn for a cycling jacket, Jaeger Chamonix. I have 1.2 Kg of this, so I could possibly make two things.

This is my intended pattern, taken from my 1000 sweater knitting patterns book.
There may also be socks:

This is cash-cotton yarn I received in a wool swap.

This is yarn from my stash. I think it's some sort of Sirdar with a high wool content.
Now where to start?
Some people get flowers. Some people get taken out to dinner. Some people get flashy presents. Some people get whisked off to Hawaii on Lear jets for romantic getaways.
I am none of those people.
I don't need to be.
I have these.

Wooden knitting needles, recycled from an old kiddies toy clothes dryer, and handmade for me yesterday.
There is no greater gift.
Thank you.

I found this lot in my favourite charity shop this morning for 1.30. Apparently, they had been saving it especially for me as they knew I would want it and be able to use it. The magazines alone would have cost two pounds each brand new, never mind the punchcard sets, two of which have prices on. One is 8.50 and the other 9.90. I am amazed, but then extremely grateful. There were a lot of loose punchcards as well, this many, to be precise

Almost 2cm worth. A real bargain, and all recycled. I am delighted.
